Four-time ARIA nominees The Temper Trap aren't backing themselves for a win at this year's awards.

Their money is on rock legends AC/DC.

The Melbourne four-piece, who are now based in London, are back in the country to attend the ceremony, where they will perform their hit song Sweet Disposition.

They are also up for album of the year, best rock album and breakthrough artist - for their debut album Conditions, as well as single of the year.

"It would be great to win best album, but I don't think we're going to win any of them - as do the bookmakers apparently," drummer Toby Dundas told AAP.

"The bookmakers have put us a firm last in every category," guitarist Lorenzo Sillitto added.

"I want to (put some money on it), but I think I might have to go to some tribunal afterwards for insider trading."

The band say if they were to place a bet, the smart money would be with AC/DC, who they are up against for album of the year and best rock album.

"We're up against them for best rock album, which clearly they should win," Sillitto said.

"I mean, they're the best rock band of all time, some would argue. If they don't win something they're being cheated."

Awards or not, it has been a huge year for the band.

They relocated to the England to further their career, and since scored a number six UK hit with Sweet Disposition.

The song was also featured in the hit film 500 Days of Summer.

"It's been a bit surreal almost," Dundas said of their whirlwind success.

The band have been touring relentlessly around Europe, making waves everywhere from Norway to the Netherlands.

"At one stage we were playing six shows a week - from the start of May through to August we were pretty flat out," singer Dougie Mandagi said.

"It's been busy but fun at the same time."

After some more European dates throughout December, the band will return to Australia for the summer festival season, playing the Falls Festival, Big Day Out, Sunset Sounds and Southbound Festival, as well as headlining shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

In 2010 they will tackle the US, with a seven-week tour.

For now, they're just enjoying the rockstar moments as they come.

"We got to fly over here on our label, because we've been so busy," bass player Jonathon Aherne said.

"We had the privilege of flying, not even business, but premium economy.

"I can stretch my feet out a little bit. That's as close as we've got to rockstar," he said, to howls of laughter from the band.
