B-52s singer Cindy Wilson disappointed fans by leaving the stage after performing just two songs during the band's Sydney concert last night.
A source, who was at the concert held at the Enmore Theatre in the city's inner-west, told ninemsn many in the audience were not impressed with Wilson's abrupt departure.
"People were walking out and they were walking out early," he said.
The band whose sound relies heavily on harmonies between singers Wilson, Fred Schneider and Kate Pierson also appeared to be thrown into confusion when Wilson pulled the plug, he said.
"They went into this musical interlude about two songs in and she [Wilson] walked up to the guitarist [Keith Strickland], said something to him and then walked off stage," he said.
"They went into the intro for 'Private Idaho' and were waiting launch into it ... when it was apparent she wasn’t coming back, they went on without her."
The blonde vocalist later claimed she had been struck by heat exhaustion.
At the end of the show, Strickland addressed the crowd and said Wilson was sorry she was unable to perform.
According to ninemsn's source, there was a tense atmosphere on stage when Strickland made his announcement.
"There was a cold silence from the rest of the band that struck me as a little strange," he said.
A spokesperson for the B-52s Australian promoters Frontier Touring, Chrissie Camp, said Wilson was not used to the Sydney heat.
"She was suffering from heat exhaustion ... obviously she was coming from the other side of the world where it is winter at the moment so her body was not used to it," Ms Camp said.
Ms Camp said she had not heard of any complaints from fans about the show.
Wilson had since recovered from her illness and would be appearing at tomorrow's B-52s concert in Victoria's Yarra Valley, she said.
