A truck reportedly carrying Britney Spears' touring equipment has rolled over on the Newell Highway near Parkes in Central Western NSW.

The truck was caught in a strong windstorm around 3:30pm yesterday and came off the road, with the driver lucky to escape serious injury, according to gossip website TMZ.

The truck contained all of Spears' stage equipment which is to be used in her performance tonight at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, the website said.

The driver was admitted to hospital but all of the equipment was undamaged.

Winds of up to 98km/h are believed to have pushed the truck, travelling from Brisbane for Spears' Circus tour, off the road.

The crash comes less than a week after Miley Cyrus' tour bus was in a fatal accident in the US, killing the driver and injuring nine.

Cyrus was not on the bus when it overturned while travelling on a main road in Virginia.

Police said the vehicle was travelling in a convoy of four vehicles carrying concert production crew to Greensboro, North Carolina where Cyrus performed on Sunday.
