Cricketer Michael Clarke and his model girlfriend Lara Bingle have denied they are about to break up.

Grazia magazine yesterday reported the high-profile engaged couple were in the process of separating as their careers pull them in different directions.

But a source close to Clarke told the Daily Telegraph newspaper Australia's cricket vice-captain was shocked by the claims.

The pair had spent the night together on Sunday after Clarke flew into Brisbane and Bingle picked him up from the airport, the source said.

"They're still together," the newspaper quoted the source as saying

. Grazia reported Clarke, 28, was struggling to come to terms with his model fiancee spending more time around Sydney fashion circles as he focuses on cricket.

Clarke is said to be less comfortable with the elite fashion crowd.

The report comes a month after Bingle, 22, abandoned publicity management company International Quarterback, which still represents Clarke.
