A Romanian pop singer has made an embarrassing blunder on live television by holding his microphone upside down during a performance.

The unnamed singer from the band Jukebox, appearing on music show Stele-sub-lupa, gave away that he was lip-synching just seconds into the group's routine by mishandling the microphone, the Daily Mail reports.

Seemingly unaware of his mistake, the singer continues to mime the song while female band members sing and dance behind him.

Footage of the performance has become a viral video hit.

At the end of last month Jukebox launched their first album of original material, called 'Picuri de Rai' (Bits of Heaven), after previously releasing two albums consisting of covers of classic Romanian songs.

The Mail reports the band is well known for their live performances.
