A mother whose baby boy died after being exposed to tuberculosis at Canberra Hospital is angry after she was sent a bill for a test performed on the child, according to reports.

Kylea Gill, 22, told the ABC she was charged $57.60 for a nasal swab performed on Douglas Franco Gill before he died early last month.

She said she believed the hospital had treated her "terribly" since her child's death.

ACT Health has apologised to the family and withdrawn the bill, which it said was sent by accident.

Douglas and four other babies were exposed to the multi-drug resistant strain of tuberculosis in the hospital's antenatal unit in August and September

The 14-week-old child's death is currently the subject of a coronial investigation.

A visiting father, with undiagnosed tuberculosis, who stayed in the antenatal unit overnight, is believed to have exposed the bacteria to others including newborn babies.

The incident led other parents to question ACT Health policy that allows fathers, in certain circumstances, to stay overnight in the unit.
