An Australian motorbike stuntman has become the first to take a death-defying somersault across London's famous Tower Bridge.

Robbie Maddison, who holds the world record for the longest motorbike jump, flew through the air on his bike over a 7.6m gap in the bridge's open span.

The 27-year-old, from Kiama on the NSW south coast, performed a no-handed backflip as he sailed across the gap, 30m above the Thames.
