A new wedding craze is sweeping Australia called "drown the gown" where brides take to the beach, river or even pool and get drenched in their frocks.

The drowning ceremony, a trend started in the US, is part of a wider phenomenon known as "trash the dress" and is usually done after the wedding.

Trash the dress photo shoots often involve splattering the bride's dress with paint or dirt.

Newlyweds Kylie Sagar and Luke Keioskie returned to the scene of their wedding proposal, Boambee Creek, near Coffs Harbour to drown the gown.
