Farrah Fawcett, best known for her role in television series Charlie's Angels, has died after a long battle with cancer. She was 62.

Fawcett died in hospital surrounded by friends and family shortly before 2:30am (AEST), reports said.

''She's now with her mother and sister and her God ... I loved her with all my heart,'' long-time partner Ryan O'Neal told People. ''I will miss her so very, very much.''

The TV legend detailed her three-year battle with anal cancer and her subsequent travels across the globe for treatment in the documentary Farrah's Story.
