More than 200 men and women dropped their business attire to don budgie smugglers in central Sydney on Thursday in a tilt at the Guinness World Record for the largest swimwear parade.

The semi-naked folk made a brave display, but the lineup fell short of the record of 281 set in Las Vegas.

Their efforts were not entirely in vain, with funds raised for the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience.
