Spectacular black clouds rolled in over parts of Victoria as a huge storm front struck overnight.

Ninemsn readers have sent in incredible photos of the storm, which dumped a remarkable 23mm of rain in just six minutes in Bentleigh East, in Melbourne's south-east.

A man had to be rescued after being caught in flash flooding on Beach Rd in Frankston.

A number of towns north-west of the city were also struck hard, with 200 reports of damaged buildings as a result of hailstones and heavy rain.
