Queensland Health has closed a Gold Coast swine flu clinic, while two nurses and five prisoners have become the state's latest victims.

The nurses were sent home from Prince Charles Hospital on Brisbane's northside on Tuesday after they were diagnosed with flu-like symptoms.

Their tests returned positive on Thursday.

Queensland Health released details on Friday, stating that all those who had been in contact with the nurses, who were undergoing practical training, had been treated with anti-viral medication.

There were 60 more confirmed cases of swine flu on Friday, taking the number of people who have contracted the virus in Queensland to 831.

The government department also announced a Southport clinic was shutting and any person who suspects they have contracted the virus on the Gold Coast should consult a general practitioner or visit a hospital.

"General practitioners will continue in the role of treating ambulatory (walk-in) patients and prescribe medication where necessary," said acting Queensland Health CEO Dr John Gerrard.

Meanwhile, a second Queensland prison has quarantined inmates after an outbreak of swine flu.

Five prisoners at Lotus Glen Correctional Centre, west of Cairns, on Friday tested positive for the influenza A (H1N1) virus.

Another two inmates are suspected of having the virus and have been isolated from other prisoners.

This follows three prisoners and a staff member from Capricornia Correctional Centre near Rockhampton on Tuesday testing positive to swine flu and quarantine measures being put in place.

Lotus Glen has cancelled all visitors and restricted the visits of external providers such as chaplains and other jail staff.

All prison transfers, apart from court escorts and discharges, have been cancelled.
