A nudist exposed himself on live television this morning after convincing TODAY show producers he would keep his privates hidden.

The man, known only as Damo, was one of thousands of people who bared all at the Sydney Opera House for a photo shoot by artist Spencer Tunick.

TODAY show weather presenter Steve Jacobs was interviewing Damo after the event while he was sitting on the Opera House steps.

After the chat, Damo turned around to give the camera — and hundreds of thousands of people at home — an eyeful of his crotch.

"It was a bit of a balls-up situation, forgive the pun," Jacobs told ninemsn.

"We did chat to him, we explained to him that it was live TV, that it was a family show — he was well aware of it."

"As soon as it happened our cameraman whizzed away from him so fast he could have caught a Formula One driver."

Jacobs said the flashing took him "completely by surprise".

"That's the problem with live TV though, there's not a lot we can do," he said.

Just weeks ago, Jacobs was caught in another uncomfortable live TV incident when a pelican at Taronga Zoo began gnawing at his pants.

The video of the pelican incident has gone global, and Jacobs — who jokes that he is "mentally scarred" from the attack — said he was becoming increasingly wary of live TV.

"Now I know never to work with children, animals … or nude people," he said.
