A 22-year-old Western Australian man is at large following a dramatic escape from police custody this morning after evading arrest in a highway pursuit yesterday.
Colin Bradley Little, who was arrested yesterday on 23 charges, reportedly pretended to be unable to walk before fleeing from police as he was being led out of hospital at around 6am WST.
Little was reportedly being taken to a police car in a wheelchair from Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in central Perth when he ran away.
Police consider Little to be extremely dangerous after he allegedly led officers on a high speed car chase across the city yesterday.
Little is alleged to have carjacked several vehicles at knifepoint in an attempt to escape from police, WA police spokesman Steve Potter said.
"He's driving cars, losing control of them, (then) carjacking another car," he said.
The first police chase with Little began when he allegedly stole a car in Mirrabooka on the northern side of Perth at around 10:30am yesterday.
Police abandoned the pursuit on the basis that Little was allegedly driving too dangerously to safely chase down.
Another pursuit began in the central Perth suburb of Swanbourne before coming to an end back in Mirrabooka.
"He basically lost control of a car and crashed into a police vehicle in Mirrabooka, and he was arrested at the scene," Mr Potter said.
He was then taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for treatment after his arrest.
Little was charged with three counts of armed robbery, one of aggravated armed robbery, four counts of stealing motor vehicles, three counts of attempted armed robbery, one of aggravated burglary, three counts of reckless driving, three counts of driving without a driver's licence, three countrs of assault to prevent arrest and three counts of failing to stop when called upon.
He is around 180cm tall with slim build and of Aboriginal appearance.
At the time he was last sighted he was wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt and no shoes.
Western Australian police are warning people not to approach Little if sighted and instead to call 000.
