A large quantity of cigarettes has been stolen in hold-ups on retail outlets in southeast Queensland.
Police say two convenience store employees were threatened by three males armed with knives at Hillcrest, 30km south of Brisbane, on Saturday night.
The threatened employees, a 52-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, handed over money and a large quantity of cigarettes during the hold-up at 8pm (AEST).
One assailant is described as being Caucasian and two are of Pacific Islander appearance.
Another trio of robbers held-up a bayside newsagency on Saturday and assaulted a shop assistant in the process.
Police say two men and a woman stole cash at a Manly newsagency in Strattan Terrace about 1.20pm.
A staff member, who attempted to stop an offender leaving the store, was assaulted.
In the third hold-up, a man armed with a knife, escaped empty-handed after attempting to rob a Gold Coast chemist on Saturday.
It's alleged he demanded two female employees open the safe of the chemist on Bundall Road, Bundall about 1.40pm.
The women told the offender they couldn't open the safe before they both ran from the store screaming for help, police say.
The offender fled the scene on a bicycle and is described as being about 40 years of age, 165cm tall with a slim build.
