Aboriginal landowners say Australia should deport a French exotic dancer who performed a strip show on top of Uluru.

Even the Australian Sex Party has condemned the stunt as a "thoughtless" publicity grab.

Internet footage of 25-year-old backpacker Alizee Sery performing a semi-nude strip atop Australia's most sacred rock has prompted a wave of outrage.

But the French national said her dance was meant as a tribute to Australia's indigenous culture and she did not mean to offend anyone.

"We need to remember the days back when we all lived naked," Ms Sery is quoted by the NT News as saying.

"I tried to perform my show in tune with the traditional owners — by being naked and dancing, something they do all the time."

But the Northern Territory's Central Land Council labelled the dance an "arrogant show of disrespect" and called on Prime Minister Julia Gillard to deport Ms Sery.

Traditional landowners request visitors not to climb the rock.

Australian Sex Party president Fiona Patten said the strip show "could only be considered stupid".

"While I support her right to be an exotic dancer — and I think sex and sexuality can play a role in performance art — certainly doing it on Uluru was really thoughtless," she told ABC News.

A Northern Territory Police spokesman said Ms Sery could face a $200 fine for stripping in public.
