A larrikin impersonating an inflatable stick person at a pop culture expo in Brisbane has gained internet fame for his comical performance.

Footage of the "wacky waving" performance was uploaded to YouTube yesterday under the title "The best cosplay [costume play] of all time."

At last count it had received almost 250,000 views, spreading to viral websites such as Reddit, BuzzFeed and Trendolizer.

"You know how, outside car yard sales, they'll have those big inflatable stick figure people who flap around?" wrote the video's uploader, RayLiehm, from Sydney.

"Well, right towards the end of Brisbane Supanova 2012, I ran into this guy. He had everyone in stiches."

Waving inflatable stick figures are commonly used street-side to advertise factory sales or car dealerships.

Up to 6m in height, they are powered by a base fan that blows air inside the inflatable so the figure appears to swing and tilt in a sort of "wild dance".
