A 47-year-old man has been arrested over the murder of Melbourne woman Sarah Cafferkey.
Victoria Police said in a statement the Bacchus Marsh man had been arrested at a home in Hawthorn, in Melbourne's inner-east, at 12.30pm (AEDT).
He is now in custody and being questioned by police over the death of the 22-year-old, whose body was found in a Point Cook house on Saturday night.
The part-time hotel worker vanished on November 9 and her car was found abandoned at a roadside six days later.
Neighbours claimed two men rented the property where her body was found but said they had not been seen for a week.
Police named a person of interest today after probing the young woman's Facebook page for clues.
Authorities have warned social media users to avoid making comments about the suspect online as it may jeopardise the outcome of the case.
