Robbers attack pregnant woman in Sydney

November 21 2012: A heavily pregnant woman was kicked in the stomach in a brutal attack during a robbery in Sydney's southwest.

A heavily pregnant women has been pushed to the ground and kicked in the stomach during a robbery in Sydney's southwest.

Two women, aged 35 and 20, had left Holsworthy Railway Station and were headed towards a pathway in Parkwood Parade when they were approached by three men about 3.40pm (AEDT) on Tuesday.

One of them tried to grab a handbag from the older woman, who was 37 weeks pregnant.

A struggle ensued and the woman eventually let go but another man pushed her to the ground and kicked her in the stomach.

One of the men then approached the 20-year-old woman and pulled her bag from her shoulder.

The men then ran towards the footbridge and disappeared into bushland, police said.

Police conducted an extensive search of the area with the assistance of Polair and the dog unit.

The pregnant woman was taken to hospital where she was assessed and treated. The other woman was not injured.

Police described the men as being of Caucasian appearance, one wearing a green hooded jacket and another wearing a red hooded jacket.
