A terrified father and daughter could be heard panicking as whales swum beneath their vessel and almost capsized it off the coast of Fraser Island .

A whale watcher in a canoe off Fraser Island breathed heavily and panicked as she filmed two of the enormous mammals swim beneath her vessel, threatening to capsize it.

The girl was paddling off Queensland's southern coast with her father in September when they came across two whales who seemed to take an interest in their canoe.

"Oh my God dad, it's going under, " the girl said as the whale dived towards their boat.

The giant creature then lifted its head above the surface of the water and was only a few metres away from the boat as the girl began panting in fear and excitement.

"Dad is he gonna hit us?," she said.

”Oh my God!"

The whale then swum around the pair for a few minutes, dipping below the surface of the water and rising to breathe.
