A man will go to trial after he denied trying to kill a woman by tying her to a bed before her home was set alight.
The victim suffered burns to 60 per cent of her body.
Anto Prawiran Bintan appeared in Perth's Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on Wednesday via video link from Hakea Prison, and admitted to aggravated robbery, criminal damage by fire, violence rendering a person incapable and stealing a car after the incident in December 2011.
But Bintan, an Indonesian man with Australian citizenship, denied trying to kill Cui Ling Tao, saying that was not his intent and her injuries were an accident.
He will be tried on the attempted murder count in February.
Police have previously alleged that Bintan, who had been a tenant of Ms Tao's, had gone to her home to commit a robbery which had escalated.
Police believe she was doused with an accelerant, possibly petrol, and set alight.
