A shopping centre on Sydney's northern beaches has taken the extraordinary step of banning screaming children.
The Dee Why Grand introduced its policy last week following customer complaints about children "running amok" at the centre's food court, the Daily Telegraph reports.
The food court is near the centre's playground for children aged under five.
A notice from centre management asks customers to be "considerate" of others using the food court, but adds: "Screaming children will not be tolerated."
The centre had put up a sign before Christmas asking children not to scream, but decided on stronger language when the stream of complaints continued.
"People deserve the quiet enjoyment
of their cup of tea," centre manager Brenda Mulcahy was quoted as saying.
"Mothers have to be more responsible. We have had so many complaints."
