Son arrested over brothers' deaths

March 17, 2013: Police in Victoria today expect to question the son of one of two brothers, found dead at their property at Natte Yallock, north-east of Melbourne.

The son of one of two brothers murdered in rural Victoria is reportedly under police guard in hospital after being arrested.

Douglas and John Streeter, both aged in their 60s, were found dead at their property at Natte Yallock, near Avoca, on Thursday night.

Ross Streeter, 30, was arrested at Avoca yesterday afternoon.

Ross is the son of Douglas Streeter and John Streeter was his uncle, News Limited reports.

He was found by police near a water tower just metres from his father’s home with self-inflicted injuries.

He was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital by ambulance under police guard and is reported to be in a stable condition.

He is expected to remain in hospital for at least another day.

Locals said the brothers “made no enemies” and there had been no indication they felt under threat or had been troubled before their deaths.
