May 30, 2013: A sandwich has been thrown at Julia Gillard today as she visited Lyneham High School in Canberra, following another sandwich being thrown earlier this month at Marsden High School in Logan.

A student has thrown a sandwich at Prime Minister Julia Gillard during a visit to a high school in Canberra.

The white-bread salami and cheese sandwich was tossed over the heads of TV camera operators and other pupils before striking Ms Gillard on the arm.

The sandwich then landed at the prime minister's feet.

"They must have thought I was hungry," Ms Gillard joked afterwards.

Ms Gillard was at Lyneham High School to announce that the ACT had signed up to the Gonski reforms.

The sandwich throw comes just weeks after a Queensland teenager was suspended for a similar stunt.

May 08, 2013: Prime Minister Julia Gillard was rushed through crowds of aggressive and abusive students at Marsden High School in Queensland as she attended a Biggest Morning Tea fundraising event.

Kyle Thomson, 16, protested his innocence after receiving the 15-day suspension from Marsden State High School in Logan.
