An 18-year-old charged with the murder, rape and the unlawful assault of Queensland woman Joan Ryther is spending his 19th birthday in custody.
The Logan City teenager is due to face Beenleigh Magistrates Court today after his arrest overnight following an 11-day investigation, the Courier Mail reports.
The accused, who cannot be named, was arrested in Brisbane just hours into his birthday.
The teen has denied any role in the offences and his lawyer Michael Bosscher said he was extremely anxious about the situation.
Ms Ryther, 27, was allegedly raped and murdered as she walked to the McDonald's where she worked on May 21.
Her partially clothed body was found in the front yard of a home in Logan Central, less than a kilometre from her home.
The 18-year-old is facing charges of murder, rape and the unlawful assault of a pregnant female.
On Thursday police released CCTV in the hope of speaking to potential witnesses.
