Stress reportedly led to the breakdown of billionaire James Packer’s marriage to his wife Erica after only six years.
The couple, who have three young children, signed divorce papers in Sydney this week, the Daily Telegraph reports.
A friend of the couple told the newspaper the pressure of establishing a global business empire had taken its toll.
"It’s just been years of pressure for James – One.Tel, getting into Macau, his father dying, selling out of Channel Nine, seeing Las Vegas investments go bad … it’s all taken its toll," the friend who remained anonymous said.
The announcement of their divorce comes months after moving into their $50 million mansion at Vaucluse in Sydney's east and after Mr Packer won a NSW government license to build a $1.5 billion casino-hotel resort at Barangaroo.
The couple said in a statement that they remained close friends and their children would be a priority moving forward.
Mrs Packer is believed to be taking time out in California with their three children.
It is understood the couple signed a pre-nuptial agreement worth tens of millions of dollars.
