A shooting at a cafe in Sydney's southwest is likely to be gang related, police say, after they seized a car with possible links to organised crime.
The seizure on Wednesday comes after a number of shots were fired at the Big Sahara cafe on Haldon Street in Lakemba on Tuesday at about 11.30pm.
Several people were inside the cafe at the time but no one was hit.
"The fact that no one was injured or killed was a real miracle," Superintendent Michael McLean told reporters.
"We do not believe this is a random attack and believe it was in fact targeted."
Witnesses told police they saw a man fire into the cafe, before fleeing the scene on foot and driving away in a car.
On Wednesday morning, detectives seized a car from Angus Crescent in Yagoona in the city's southwest.
The car is registered to an address known to police, which was also searched, Supt McLean said.
"We're considering the possibility this is the vehicle which was used in the (attack)."
No arrests have been made, but police said the vehicle's owner was co-operating.
Local police are being assisted by detectives from the Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad.
