A Sydney driver who was allegedly street racing when his car slammed into another vehicle, killing an elderly couple, has pleaded guilty to their manslaughter.
In Penrith District Court on Thursday, Robert James Borkowski, 38, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Alan and Judith Howle.
The Howles, both aged in their 70s, were killed last July when Borkowski's Holden Commodore slammed into their Toyota Camry at the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Charles Hackett Drive in suburban St Marys.
Police allege Borkowski was involved in a street race with two other cars which had reached speeds of about 120km/h on a 60km/h stretch of the highway.
Judge William Knight put the matter over to September 18, when lawyers for Borkowski's co-offender, Adam McDonald, will be present.
McDonald, the driver of another car involved in the accident, pleaded guilty to two charges of manslaughter in June.
His sentencing hearing has been set for November 4 and the two matters may be heard together.
McDonald's car, also a Commodore, did not hit the Howles but ploughed into Borkowski's vehicle after the initial collision.
Another driver charged over the crash, but not involved in the collision, was found dead in his car at the beginning of the year.
