It's the street paved in parking fine gold — 30,000 citations written in one year and more than $3 million in revenue for Brisbane City Council.

A Nine News investigation can reveal the most lucrative street in Queensland for parking fine revenue is Elizabeth St in Brisbane where 30,733 fines worth $3,051,160 fines were issued in 2009-10.

In second place is Brisbane's George St, which racked up $1.15m in fines over the same time period.

Documents released under the Right to Information Act show Brisbane and other councils in Queensland's southeast launched a parking fine onslaught against wayward motorists last year — issuing fines at a rate of nearly one every minute.

Revenue from fines collected across the state will jump by 20 percent — or $5.2 million — to $30m for the 2009-10 year should councils and the State Penalties Enforcement Register force all those fined to pay up.

The councils of Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Logan City, Ipswich City, Moreton Bay and Redland were all approached to reveal how many parking fines they issued, year on year.

Brisbane City wrote easily the most infringements, issuing 275,180 fines in the past year — up by 24,680 on the previous year. Others with big jumps in fines include Sunshine Coast Regional Council where fines issued rose from 34,028 to 48,017 and Logan City where the number of fines rose from 2150 to 3490. Moreton Bay also showed a big rise, up from a small 280 to 1427.

But those at Ipswich got it a little easier, with infringements falling from 8888 to 3574.

As expected, most of the most lucrative streets are in the Brisbane CBD.

Outside the immediate CBD, Grey St in South Brisbane was a favourite with parking officers, who wrote 12,827 fines.

Further afield, Cornwall St, Annerley was also in the top 25 streets for Brisbane City Council fines, attracting 2993 fines.
