A woman jailed for killing her husband of just two days has been charged with deceitfully obtaining his Transport Accident Commission (TAC) payment.
Margaret Vandergulik has already been jailed for nine years for killing Patrick Plumbe, 60, who died one day after making his new wife the sole beneficiary of his $1 million superannuation fund.
Vandergulik has now been charged with obtaining his TAC payment worth $96,387.
It is alleged she falsely represented that Mr Plumbe died as a result of a transport accident on or about April 28, 2005.
Mr Plumbe's charred body was found behind the steering wheel of his burnt-out ute beside Wangaratta-Devenish Road, near Wangaratta in north-east Victoria on April 28, 2005.
Police initially deemed the death was the result of a car accident, but exhumed his body when a former lover of Vandergulik told authorities she had confessed to killing him.
Vandergulik, 61, formerly of Kialla near Shepparton, pleaded guilty to manslaughter last year while she was standing trial for his murder.
Sentencing Vandergulik, Victorian Supreme Court judge Justice Murray Kellam said she had shown a "callous indifference" to fulfil a duty of care to her husband as she left him to burn in his car.
"This case is a most serious example of the crime of manslaughter by criminal negligence," Justice Kellam said.
The deception charge was listed in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Thursday, however Vandergulik, whose address is listed as the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre prison, was not present in court.
The matter was adjourned and will return to court on May 22.
