Pat Rafter has taken a "significant" pay cut in his role as the face of Bonds underwear but the tennis champion says he will be sticking by the beleaguered company.
The US Open winner and Australian of the Year said he had signed another two-year contract with the company, which is estimated to be worth around $300,000, the Herald Sun reports.
His decision has outraged union workers who were yesterday picketing outside Pacific Brands, Bonds' parent company, over its decision to sack 1850 Australian workers and move their manufacturing operation to China.
"For him to sign on another contract and promote their goods without even taking the time to hear the devastating impacts the job losses are having on those workers shocks me," Textile Clothing and Footwear Union national secretary Michele O'Neil said.
Rafter said he had no plans to give up his Bonds deal, despite the union's pressure.
"All the research I have done into it and talking to both sides of it ... it's not hard to stick by them," the 36-year-old said.
"Bonds have been very good to me and I will continue to serve my loyalty to them.
