The senior policy advisor whose claims of sexual misconduct led to a NSW Labor MP's sacking was a former lap dancer at an exclusive men's club, friends say.

Tina Sanger worked at the ritzy Spearmint Rhino club in England and then landed a job at the Melbourne club of the same name after she moved to Australia, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Ms Sanger last year claimed Labor front bencher Tony Stewart bullied her and inappropriately touched her while they were at a fundraising dinner with Delta Goodrem and a host of other celebrities.

Mr Stewart, who denies the allegations, was dismissed but is now suing the Crown, saying he was denied natural justice in being sacked.

Claims of Ms Sanger's raunchy past were made in statements released by Mr Stewart's lawyers yesterday and later confirmed by her publicist.

Ms Sanger's friend and bridesmaid Dawn Hamer said the 39-year-old worked at the Spearmint Rhino club in England in 2000 before marrying and moving down under.

According to Ms Hamer, Ms Stewart boasted that she also worked at Melbourne's Spearmint Rhino club.

"Tina discussed working at Spearmint Rhino often," Ms Hamer was quoted as saying.

"She was having problems with some of the girls she was working with."

Other claims that have surfaced to discredit Ms Sanger include that she did not hold the necessary qualifications to gain a government job.

Salford University in the UK confirmed that Ms Sanger did not hold a degree, despite her resume saying so, while a letter from her school manager at Walton le Dale college disputes claims that she studied biology, physics and chemistry.

The school said her subjects were typing, geography, English and commercial maths, which she only just passed.

Ms Sanger's friends said they came forward with the new information because they believed her past should be known.
