Veteran wildlife campaigner Bob Irwin, Queensland Party leader Aidan McLindon and Queensland Greens spokesperson Libby Connors are joining a blockade in southern Queensland on Tuesday to stop the development of the coal seam gas industry.

Protesters formed a human barricade at the Tara Estate, south of Chinchilla, on March 14 to stop QGC building a 16km pipeline to take coal seam gas from five wells on the estate to the nearby Kenya gas processing plant.

Friends of the Earth spokesman Drew Hutton said although the pipeline is partly built, protesters are not giving up and it is hoped the big names will put pressure on the project to stop.

"We're fighting it property to property and they are nowhere near finished," Mr Hutton told AAP.

"Mr Irwin is outraged by the state government's decision to allow coal seam gas mining in Queensland and by the treatment of landowners."

Opponents fear the expanding coal seam gas industry will contaminate ground water, present risks to human health and devalue land.
