Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has taken another swipe at the The Chaser team after one of its members tried to ambush him in Sydney.

The satirical ABC comedy show was taken off the air for two weeks earlier this month over a controversial skit about dying children.

Chaser member Julian Morrow confronted Mr Rudd on Thursday as he left a business lunch, asking the prime minister how he was dealing with his anger problems.

"It is good to see you guys picking on someone your own size," Mr Rudd replied before getting into his car.

The ABC and The Chaser's War On Everything have apologised for the "Making A Realistic Wish Foundations" skit that depicted dying children making deathbed wishes.

The national broadcaster on Wednesday demoted its head of TV comedy, Amanda Duthie, saying airing the skit was an error of judgment.

Mr Rudd last week said The Chaser team should hang their heads in shame.

"I actually don't mind The Chaser taking the mickey out of me or any other politician at any time or any place, that's fine, that's fair game," Mr Rudd said last Thursday.

"But having a go at kids with a terminal illness is really beyond the pale, absolutely beyond the pale."
