A Senate inquiry into coal seam gas (CSG) mining will hear from farmers in the heart of one of Queensland's major food-producing regions.

Farmers from the Darling Downs and a group of concerned landowners known as the Basin Sustainability Alliance will be among those to give evidence at the inquiry at Dalby, set for 1pm on Tuesday.

In a submission to the Senate committee, the alliance says it's concerned CSG mining will drain and contaminate aquifers and damage the Great Artesian Basin.

The group is also concerned CSG activities will affect good farming land and reduce land values.

The inquiry, which began in Queensland at Roma on Monday, will travel to Brisbane on Wednesday.
