Australia has urged North Korea to immediately desist from provocative acts after it fired three short-range missiles last night (AEST).
A spokesman for Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said North Korea, also called the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), must comply with the United Nations and stop such acts.
"We're very concerned over reports that the DPRK has launched two further short-range missiles on the second of July," the spokesman said before news broke that North Korea had fired a third missile. (Read more: Nuclear standoff)
"We urge the DPRK to immediately desist from provocative acts and threats which only isolate it further."
The spokesman said North Korea had disregarded United Nations' Security Council resolutions. The country must return to compliance with those resolutions, he said.
