Man charged with kidnapping tourist

Police say the German man was offered drugs by the 25-year-old in Kings Cross in the early hours of June 18 and agreed to travel with him to get money.

When the tourist got inside the man's car, he was allegedly assaulted and robbed of his credit cards and PIN numbers.

Police said once the car reached Greenacre, the German was threatened with a knife and ordered to withdraw money from his account.

The German later managed to escape, running into the grounds of a church for safety.

The 25-year-old man was arrested on Friday and was charged with kidnapping and demand money with menaces.

He is due to appear in Parramatta bail court on Saturday.
