A 28-year-old woman has allegedly stolen a taxi, crashed into a car carrying two off-duty police officers in Brisbane's southwest, then returned a blood alcohol test almost three times the legal limit.
The car with the two officers inside was struck from behind by the taxi while the officers were waiting to turn right at the intersection of Boundary Rd and Acanthus St, Darra, around 4pm (AEST) on Saturday, police said.
A police spokeswoman said despite sustaining injuries in the crash, the officers managed to detain the woman and a 39-year-old male passenger until more officers arrived on the scene.
Both officers were examined at Brisbane's QEII Hospital and treated for soft tissue injuries and pain.
The woman will appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court on Monday charged with a blood alcohol reading of 0.146 per cent and disqualified driving.
Police are continuing investigations into the unlawful use of the taxi.
