Bob Katter's son says he wanted to crawl under a log when his dad launched into an old campaign song, with the footage aired on national television.
The federal independent MP burst into an enthusiastic rendition of the ditty on Monday, as he urged candidates for his new Katter's Australian Party to stand out from the crowd.
About 40 candidates are in Brisbane for training as they prepare to contest the Queensland election.
Robert Katter, who will run in the seat ofMt Isa, says singing is not his style and he won't be following his father's lead.
He says the party has some very serious issues to confront, after his dad called Katter's Australian Party the "fun party".
"I wanted to hide under a log when I saw that," the younger Mr Katter told ABC radio when asked if he'd be relying on his musical abilities to raise his profile.
"Nah, that's not my style."
