A group of boys have foiled a man's attempt to abduct a 13-year-old boy near Newcastle.
Police said the boy was walking home from a skate park at Wallsend about 6.30pm (AEDT) on Sunday when he was approached by a man.
The man grabbed the boy's arm and told him to get into his white van.
However, he let go and drove away after other boys at the skate park spotted the incident and ran towards the van yelling.
The van is described as being similar to a white Toyota Hi-Ace with tinted dark windows, and dark-coloured wheels.
The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged about 30, with a thin build and black or brown hair. He was wearing a black shirt.
