A 43-year-old Melbourne man has died after he was attacked with a tomahawk in the city's outer southeast last night.
Police said the man was attacked during an argument between two residents in a house in Bowman Close, Narre Warren about 10.25pm (AEST).
The attacker fled after the incident but was arrested about 30 minutes later.
The 43-year-old man was rushed by air ambulance to The Alfred (The Alfred) hospital where he later died.
There were two other residents in the house at the time of the attack, police said.
Police have established a crime scene at the house and forensic specialists will examine the scene.
Investigators have found the weapon they believe was used in the attack.
Homicide Squad detectives will question a 22-year-old man over the incident.
