An obese wannabe rapper has sued the Department of Housing after he fell through his loungeroom floor when the structure gave way under his 250kg frame.
Wayne Douglas fell through to the ground level of the four-bedroom southwest Sydney home he was allocated while sweeping under the couch in November 2006, the Daily Telegraph reported.
He told the newspaper he suffered leg injuries in the fall, which led to blood clots, and had his weight balloon out to 300kg after he was injured.
After having his case against the department terminated by the Human Rights Commission, Mr Douglas applied to the Federal Magistrates Court, alleging the Macquarie Fields home was termite-ridden and unsuitable for his weight.
The court found Mr Douglas was free to refuse the property and apply for another tenancy, and dismissed the case.
Mr Douglas had specifically asked to live in Macquarie Fields and said the department had failed to properly review his extensive file which detailed his disability.
"They gave me a house that was termite-ridden, I went through the floor," Mr Douglas told the Daily Telegraph last night.
"You might remember me, I was on Today Tonight, they said I was too fat to be a dad. I am still in the house, it is still s---."
The father of one, who describes himself as a full-time dad on his Facebook page, lived rent free in the house for six months.
He has since shed weight and is now 125kg and told the newspaper he hopes to pursue a career as a rapper.
