Racism is still alive in Australia, the man due to give NSW's Australia Day speech says.

World renowned brain surgeon Dr Charles Teo will reportedly use his address, due to be broadcast on Monday night, to say that "racism is still very much alive in Australia".

He said claims there was no racism in Australia was "bulls**t".

"I don't quite like it when I hear politicians reassuring the Indians there's no racism in Australia. That's bulls**t," Dr Teo, the son of Chinese immigrants, told News Ltd.

He said his own daughter had suffered racist abuse.

"My daughter, for example, was saying to me just the other day, very sadly, she doesn't like Australia Day," he continued.

"She has in the past dressed up, got into the spirit of things, put a sticker on her face, worn the green and gold and been told by drunk Australians to go home because she looks Chinese.

"That's so sad. You can't get more Australian than my daughter."

He also detailed how an Indian colleague was spat at and abused.

Nonetheless, Dr Teo described Australia as "the best nation in the world" and said he loved its egalitarian mentality.
