Brisbane residential property prices fell eight percent over the past 12 months, in the wake of last January's floods disaster. But a new report is tipping the tide may turn within six months, with buyer confidence buoyed by lower interest rates and competitive prices.

Among the suburbs set to take off is Inala, southwest of the CBD.

Parents Sally and Jason Tegg are among a new wave of home buyers cashing in on the up-and-coming neighbourhood.

"We could get more living in Inala for our money and we were 15 minutes closer to the city," Mrs Tegg told Nine News.

The report, prepared by property analyst Urbis, uses data on property prices settled by the end of November 2011, population, infrastructure and employment opportunities to pick its market hot spots (listed above).

Inala shines on the list, as does Dutton Park, Coorparoo, New Farm and Lutwyche.

For apartments, Urbis tips Indooroopilly, South Brisbane and Bowen Hills.
