A young boy is fighting for life after falling 10 metres from the window of a home in Sydney's west.
The five-year-old was transported to hospital in a critical condition after falling onto concrete from the property in Gibbons Street, Auburn, about 3.40pm (AEDT) on Friday.
His mother took him to a nearby clinic where staff called emergency services.
His condition began deteriorating at the clinic and he slipped into a semi-conscious state.
A CareFlight helicopter landed nearby and a doctor placed the boy in an induced coma before he was taken by ambulance to Westmead Hospital.
CareFlight director Ian Badham said the boy suffered head and facial injuries and a broken arm.
Mr Badham urged parents to secure windows when children are present.
"Once a week, on average, a child is injured falling out of windows," he told AAP.
"It is easily preventable.
"Parents should secure all windows and make sure children cannot lean against fly-screens."
Police are investigating the accident, but say there are no suspicious circumstances.
