The NSW government authority which regulates The Star has received a statement from the Sydney casino detailing the sacking of its former managing director, but won't reveal what is in it.
The Casino, Liquor and Gaming Control Authority had demanded a formal explanation by 1pm (AEDT) on Monday after Sid Vaikunta left the company because of his behaviour "in a social work setting".
In a statement the authority said it had received the information about Mr Vaikunta's sacking, which was announced last Thursday by casino owner Echo Entertainment.
"The authority used its statutory powers to require the casino provide this information," the statement from the authority said.
"The former managing director was licensed by the authority as a special employee involved in the executive management of the casino.
"The authority will consider the information provided.
"It will not provide details of the information received or elaborate on any course of action until its investigations are concluded."
It has been reported the former The Star casino boss was accused of sexually harassing staff, and was sent on leave in December before his removal.
Under the Casino Control Act a licensee must be "of good repute", and disciplinary action can be taken if they have committed an offence against the Act, or an offence punishable by more than three months jail.
Penalties available to the authority vary from a formal censure, a fine, and loss or suspension of the casino's licence.
Comment was being sought from The Star.
