A Perth cabbie who stood by as his colleague raped a female passenger claims his reputation has been unfairly damaged.
Prabhjit Gill was found not guilty of sexual assault in court yesterday but it was revealed he watched the woman be raped by fellow taxi driver Amrit Pal in a North Lake car park last year.
Pal has been found guilty of rape, ABC News reports.
Mr Gill said it is common practice for Perth drivers to accept sexual favours in exchange for fares.
He has had his licence revoked under the 'fit and proper person' test and claims the incident has delayed his studies to become a dentist.
"It just destroyed everything for me, my life, my reputation even though today I'm not guilty," he said.
The Western Australia Transport Minister Troy Buswell fully supports the move to ban Mr Gill from the roads.
"We are working hard to crack down on those few rogue drivers that ruin it for everybody," he said.
"I have a very strong view based on the evidence that that driver gave in court he doesn't deserve to be a taxi driver and his cancellation of his licence by the Department of Transport is entirely appropriate."
