Parts of western Sydney have been hit by torrential downpours and flash flooding so powerful that cars have reportedly been swept away.

Emergency services are attending flooded cars and properties after the heavy rain and police are warning drivers to steer clear of Cranebrook, Castlereagh, Kingswood, Jamisontown and Werrington.
The SES used boats to evacuate homes with floodwaters reaching heights of up to a metre.
The Bureau of Meteorology has recorded 109mm of rainfall since 9am AEDT Thursday in Penrith, with most of it falling at about 8pm last night.
Wollongong has also been drenched overnight, with the suburb of Balgownie receiving 100mm.
The Bureau is now warning far south coast residents to prepare for flash flooding in river valleys, with Moruya, Tuross, Bega, Towamba and Queanbeyan Molonglo at particular risk.
Police have warned motorists to drive to the conditions and not to try to cross flooded roads.
