The man accused of stabbing former bikie associate Mark Judge in a Sydney garage last year will remain in custody after briefly appearing in court.
David Jonathon Thackray, 31, from Bondi, was wearing a black jumper and jeans and had a shaved head when he appeared via audiovisual-link at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.
He did not apply for bail and it was formerly refused.
Thackray, who has been charged with maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm, requested more time to get legal representation.
"Maybe another day or two so I can organise my representation," he told the court.
He was arrested at Sydney Airport on Friday after disembarking from a flight from Bangkok.
Police said Thackray had been living overseas for some time.
Mr Judge was stabbed multiple times in the chest in August last year in the security garage of his apartment block in the eastern Sydney suburb of Bellevue Hill between 11.20 and 11.29am on August 31 last year.
The 32-year-old managed to stagger across the street before an unknown person called an ambulance.
Thackray is due to appear at Central Local Court on February 16.
