Stefan Libon clearly doesn't do things by half.
The 32-year-old Sydneysider proposed to his girlfriend on Valentine's Day morning with a 25-metre banner pinned to the side of the Queen Mary II passenger liner.
The largest cruise ship to ever visit Australia steamed into Sydney Harbour about 6am (AEDT) on Tuesday with the words "Marry me Jess?" proudly displayed from its top deck.
Mr Libon took his unsuspecting girlfriend of six years, Jess McGarrity, 29, and their baby Sebastian down to the harbourside on the pretence of watching the liner.
"We've been together so long I really wanted to do something big to make the proposal memorable and special," he said in a statement released by Queen Mary II's owners, Cunard.
Jess said yes and the trio were whisked aboard for brunch.
Queen Mary II is due to leave Sydney on Tuesday night, continuing its inaugural circumnavigation of Australia.
It heads to Brisbane next with explorer Matthew Flinders' original map of Australia onboard.
The map plus Flinders' logbooks and journals are on loan from the NSW State Library.
